Forgive me readers, for I have slacked. It’s been 7 months since my last post.
But today is Retro Game SuperHyper’s 9th birthday! HBD2RGSH!
Yes, it’s been a slow year for blog posts, but that doesn’t mean I’ve abandoned the project. On the contrary — issue 5 of the fanzine was finally released back in February, and although it seems like I was laying low all summer, I actually was working on a surprise BONUS issue of the zine!

TV Game SuperHyper ISSUE 0 was quietly released in September! And you read that right — this issue is not called “Retro” Game SuperHyper, but “TV” Game SuperHyper, because it’s a truly retro-style fanzine with a cover date of 1994, black and white, half-size, deliberately laid out to look handmade, the way I would have done it 30 years ago. It’s a fun peek into an alternate timeline where I started the zine during the 16-bit era.
The other big project that was keeping me from blogging much was my trip to Tokyo, which also happened in September. I finally realized my dream travel destination, and rest assured I saw and did plenty of gaming and have been posting photos of it on Instagram. This is also the perfect opportunity to mention that issue 6 of the fanzine will revolve around my visit to Japan!

So, great, the fanzine is having a great year, what about blog posts? Yes, I am chomping at the bit to get back to it, and I would love to finish out 2025 with a handful of new articles. Look for those soon!
And I would always be remiss if I didn’t wish my original gaming website, the Metroid Database, a happy 29th anniversary on this very same day. As usual, I will be participating in their Metroid Marathon livestream tonight by playing some variation of the original Metroid. Keep it rolling, Team MDb!
Thanks, as always, for visiting Retro Game SuperHyper, for buying the fanzine, for connecting with me on Instagram. Although focus and priorities change with time, my love of video gaming has never been stronger.
