Hi friends! Well, Retro Game SuperHyper has been a thing for a little over 6 months now, so I thought I would do a quick post about how it’s been doing and where it’s going from here!
First, I want to thank anyone and everyone who has found and read the blog! I hope you’re enjoying my stories and commentary about videogamer life. I’m having a ton of fun doing it! I realize that the posting schedule is anything but consistent; some weeks I’ll put up three posts, and sometimes I’ll go a week and a half with nothing. My original intent was to do at least 3 per week, but of course, life gets in the way sometimes. But I think I’m doing all right for this being a hobby.
I also gotta give a shoutout to everyone who’s following me on Instagram. IG is my favorite social media platform, so remember that there’s always exclusive pics and snippets there to complement the blog! The RGSH Instagram has over 250 followers (many of whom are people in the retro-gaming community on IG who I have been following for a long time on my regular IG account), and I think that’s been my best visibility thus far; I’m hoping my Insta-friends have been reading the blog as well as just enjoying my pictures! I would always like more actual blog readers to find me, so hopefully you can help spread the word.
Don’t forget, RGSH also has a Facebook page, which right now has fewer than 30 likes; that’s obviously a number I would like to see improve, so if you haven’t liked the FB page yet, please do so! New posts are always linked from there, so you’ll always find out about them in your news feed if you follow!
That said, I’m not really one of those “numbers” guys, however; the sheer numbers of likes and follows my accounts have don’t hold any meaning in and of themselves, I just want to know that my work is reaching lots of people and hopefully everyone’s enjoying it! More Facebook likes and IG follows just mean I know more people are seeing what RGSH is up to!
So, where to from here? Well, I have plenty of ideas for further posts, that’s for sure, so I’ll keep chugging along with my photos, thoughts, and stories.
But I would also love to expand RGSH beyond digital content just a bit, perhaps start to build it into a brand, maybe start to offer a bit of merch — I love t-shirts and stickers and stuff, so don’t be surprised if I start an online shop with a little of that. As you may know, I’m an artist, so possibly some art prints, a ‘zine, or other such special projects might come with the RGSH name somewhere down the line. There are all kinds of cool ideas I could play with, and I’d love some feedback from you!
But all this isn’t necessary if nobody’s paying attention, so please keep reading the blog and spreading the word! Thanks so much for taking the time to check out Retro Game SuperHyper, I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am!
