You may have noticed that it’s been a little quiet around here lately. I only made one post in November. Yikes! Where does the time go? I’ve had a lot of “real-life” nonsense going on, so I haven’t had much opportunity to write. But that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been toying with some other ideas.

First off, yes, issue 2 of the ‘zine is still coming. I’ve hit some snags that are beyond my control but have decided to just work around them because I want the ‘zine out by the end of the year.

Second, I’ve been dipping my toe into the Twitch waters a bit and figuring out how to stream. I played some Dragon Quest XI live a few weeks ago, as streaming from the PS4 is super easy, and then I figured out how to broadcast emulator stuff from my PC and did a little test run of Bionic Commando for the NES for about 12 minutes. I don’t know how deep I’ll get into doing it, but I may have a bit of fun playing old games for you. So if you’re interested, twitch.tv/retrogamesuperhyper is my Twitch channel.

Speaking of video, I’ve got an item coming soon that I may actually do an unboxing video for. I’ve never done one of those, and some people like ’em and some think they’re stupid, but I’ll give it a shot. I’m not usually one for appearing on camera much, but maybe it’s time I try.

Another thing I’m back-and-forth on is Patreon. I’ve got a page all set up and ready to go, I just haven’t felt the time was right to pull the trigger just yet. I feel, though, that I have noble goals for the funding I would receive should it become successful. So I’ll probably launch that at some point.

And then there’s NESmaker! I picked up a copy of this amazing software and am gradually trying to learn the ropes of making an NES game, but I don’t have a ton of time to work on it, so it’s slow going for now. Also, there’s a major update coming soon, which sounds like it may make much of what you do in the current version irrelevant or incompatible with the new version, so right now I’m just messing around with it and waiting for the update. Ultimately, I have a game in mind that I would love to make to accompany the blog, so stay tuned and I’ll be letting you in on more of that as it happens.
